What You Should Receive And Expect From A Full-Service Moving Company

Posted on

Moving companies offer all kinds of services. Some of them offer just about everything imaginable, short of the kitchen sink. The following is what you should receive and expect from a full service moving company.

Extra Bodies to Pack and Move

Extra bodies are the norm for full-service moving. You should get at least two with a maximum of ten movers to pack up your home and belongings, load everything onto the truck, and unload and unpack it at the new home. Ask for the moving company's advice regarding extra movers and/or their policies for the number of movers they typically send. Sometimes it is based on the number of bedrooms in the home (e.g., two movers per bedroom, plus two movers per common area).

Packing Services from the Ordinary to the Extraordinary

The movers should arrive with boxes and packing materials in hand. You do none of the packing, and the movers do all of the wrapping, packing, disassembling, boxing, and sealing of boxes. They should also handle any extraordinary services like moving pianos and very heavy furniture and antiques. If you also have some pricey art, they should be able to package that and move it carefully to your new home. Additionally, everything is clearly labeled for each room in your home so that you never have to dig through boxes and boxes of items looking for that elusive frying pan or that stack of bed sheets you need.

Storage Facilities

Storage is commandeered for customers who request it. You can store some or all of your stuff at a the moving company's storage facility. You can pay in advance, or agree to pay monthly, until you are ready to move your stuff and quit renting storage, or until you have found another place to live when circumstances have left you homeless.

Moving Any Distance

No matter how far you want to move, the moving company should be able to help. Whether it is just across the street, across town, across the state, or across the country, a full-service moving company should be accommodating. The really good full service moving companies can even help you with international moves, if you need it. Just make sure you notify the moving company how far you need to move, and be prepared to pay the costs of gas for the truck driver(s), as well as the extra costs for the full moving team to meet you at the new house/apartment.
